Gaudy Welsh
Notwithstanding it’s generic name, as well as it’s widespread and enduring popularity in the Principality, Antique Gaudy Welsh pottery was, for the most part, produced in Staffordshire, with contributions from potteries in South Wales and the North East of England. Many later Vintage pieces were produced by Allerton’s of Longton, { 1859 – 1942 }, and these usually bear the Maker’s Mark of that pottery, the earlier, antique examples generally being unmarked.
