Description

Simply beautiful ! A rare example, in excellent condition, of a Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Gaudy Welsh Jug, decorated in "Onllwyn" pattern by Bayley & Ball of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. The shape, derived from that originally introduced by Mason's under the product name "Fenton", registered by Bayley & Ball on 15 November 1845, Patent No. 31128. Cf. :- A marked example of an identical, though slightly larger jug is illustrated in Volume 2 of Monica South's superb work of reference, "Gaudy Welsh ~ A Visual Reference".
