Contact UsA most attractive Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Pastille Burners ~ H 3265, modelled as flower encrusted cottages, smaller versions of Stock Ref. LAVSPPBH3265-27, together with which model they would make a fine, decorative group. Popular from around 1820 to 1860, pastille burners were containers, often in the form of cottages, churches, or summer houses, frequently found with detachable lids, which were used for the burning of cassolette perfumes or incense. Highly desirable, not to say necessary in the days before the introduction of modern sanitation! One cottage, the lower illustrated in Image 1, somewhat discoloured with use.
