English Studio Pottery Porcelain Cabinet Dish ~ “The Red Boy” ~ Reginald Johnson

This lovely large Late 20th Century porcelain cabinet dish, hand-painted by the artist with “The Red Boy“, after Sir Thomas Lawrence, P.R.A., { 1769 – 1830 }, and with heavily gilded beaded border, bears all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson’s multi-faceted talent, not only as designer, but also as potter and painter. Superbly modelled, beautifully decorated, and fired in his own studio, this delightful piece offers the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. Signed in black on the obverse, R. Johnson.
