Contact UsAn attractive Early 19th Century French Blue and White Transfer Pottery Plate by Lebeuf & Thibault of Montereau, { C. 1825 – 40 }. Decorated in an eclectic “Chinoiserie” design with figures, camels, a ship and pagoda, the reverse bearing the Maker’s Mark in underglaze blue, of L. Lebeuf & S. Thibault Montereau Porcelaine Opaque within a floral cartouche, together with the impressed initials E.B. Montereau-Fault-Yonne, located in the Seine et Marne Department of Northern France was the site of a famous French victory under Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Montereau, fought on 18 February 1814. Most unusual to find a plate of this type of French origin, which was very likely made for either the British or North American market.
