A rarely encountered Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Figure Group of a Fisherman and his Companion, catalogued by Harding as Figure a1467. She, wearing a coat and long dress leans on his right shoulder, from which is slung a fishing basket which rests upon his left hip; while he, carrying a fishing net over his right arm and dressed in cap, jacket, shirt and pantaloons, his left arm raised to his head, gazes into the distance, It is suggested by Harding that this figure is of operatic inspration, although no provenance is offered in support of this thesis.
