Contact UsAn attractive Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Pratt-ware Pottery Jug, of documentary interest, issued to commemorate the life of Josiah Wedgwood. The body decorated on each side with transfer prints of the pre-eminent potter, his left hand holding a model of the “Portland Vase”, together with the title in strapwork cartouche, “JOSIAH WEDGWOOD 1730 – 1795”, Greek Key border and further scrolling to the neck and moulded handle of the piece, the whole heightened with silver lustre on an orange ground. Unmarked other than for the painted numerals 965 to the underside, and with an old hairline to the base of the handle. Attributed here to F. & R. Pratt of Fenton, Staffordshire { c. 1818 – }, on the grounds both of colour and style.
