Antique English Victorian Blue and White Transfer “Royal Cottage” Pattern Pottery Dish ~ Thomas Till & Son

A large and attractive Antique English Victorian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Serving Dish / Platter in the “Royal Cottage” pattern, produced by Thomas Till and Son { 1850 – 1861 }, at their Sytch Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire. Decorated with a romanticised  view of Royal Lodge, which stood in Windsor Great Park and which, following alterations and additions carried out for the Prince Regent by John Nash, was now a large and elaborate cottage in the contemporary style of the cottage orné, with thatched roofs, verandas, and a conservatory. The reverse of the dish bears the maker’s mark T. TILL & SON, together with the pattern name within a pastoral cartouche, these both in underglaze blue. A small surface glaze chip to the reverse of the dish may also clearly be seen in the second image.
